As a driver, there are always plenty of things you can be doing to take care of your car. Arguably the most important being checking your oil levels regularly. Oil keeps the engine running smoothly and prevents friction and heat on the motor which produces wear.
As well as checking the level of oil in your car, it is also important to check the quality of oil as this can be indicative of age. Engine oil that is in good condition will be a golden honey colour, whereas if the colour is more of a dark brown/black, this can be a sign that the oil filter needs changing.
Below is a step-by-step guide for checking your car's oil levels. Should the oil need changing or topping up, this is something that can either be done yourself or by any garage.
