Major Travel Disruption
The MET Office has issued several weather warnings to motorists in the build up to the annual festive exodus.
Recent data suggests that 35 million vehicles were expected to take to the roads ahead of the festive season as motorists travel to friends and family for the big day.
Heavy rain and 80mph winds have been forecast and could cause misery on the roads and railways alike. Many airports have also advised passengers to keep an eye on flight details online in anticipation of cancelations and delays.
It is understood that East Coast trains have halved its services while Virgin Trains are operating as little as a third of their usual schedule.
The South-West of England is expected to be the worst hit with parts of southeast Scotland also bearing the brunt of the storms.
Motorists are being advised to put forward their travel ahead of the bad weather and stay tuned to local radio stations for further travel disruptions. It is also advisable to ensure that your mobile phone is fully charged and that you provide an estimated time of arrival to your loved ones.
A blanket, torch and bottled water are also items that may prove necessary in an emergency.
In the meantime, Winn Solicitors would like to wish you a safe journey and a very merry Christmas.
