MIB to Investigate Why Unrepresented are Avoiding OIC Portal
The Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB) is to investigate why so few unrepresented claimants are using the Official Injury Claim (OIC) portal for their claim.
After its release in May last year, the OIC portal was intended to be used by individuals, without the need for legal representation, for claims under the value of £5,000.
However, data from the first two quarters has found that fewer than 10% of claims through the portal have been brought by litigants in person. Instead, claimants are opting for legal assistance, instructing experienced legal professionals to do it on their behalf.
The MIB has now commissioned research to better understand the journey of an unrepresented claimant through the portal so they can gain insight into why the service is being shunned.
The legal team at Winns has a dedicated OIC team on hand to support you through the process of making a claim following a non-fault accident.
If you wish to start a claim, please call our team today and discuss your circumstances as part of a no-obligation chat. Alternatively, you can start a Live Chat on our website or request a call back for a time that suits you.
