Motorists Won't Return to Used Car Salesmen
Motorists who have bought a used car would not return to the same dealership again.
A new survey by the RAC has shown that two in five motorists would not use the same dealer under any circumstances, despite 56% preferring to buy pre-owned motors.
Of those surveyed, 40% said they had experienced problems with a vehicle bought from a second-hand seller.
An additional, 29% believed that their dealer did not rectify any issues satisfactorily, leading to 30% discouraging others from using the same dealer.
The reason that more motorists preferred to buy older cars was revealed however, with 56% believing that they depreciated at a slower rate, and 44% finding higher-spec vehicles to be more affordable when they’ve been pre-owned.
RAC spokesman Mario Dolcezza said: "We understand that for many motorists buying a used car is a big financial commitment and there is real anxiety about unwittingly buying a 'lemon' and having no comeback after driving off the forecourt.
"Dealers really need to make sure they do everything they can to give buyers the utmost confidence in their cars as trust is key in the buying process."
