Van and truck registrations hit new high
Britain’s roads are starting to see the signs of gradual economic recovery, with van and truck registrations hitting record highs.
Demand for new vans and trucks has reached a level not seen since before the recession and is greater in the UK than across the rest of Europe.
Between January and March 2015, some 108,456 vans and trucks were registered, making it the best quarter on record for new registrations.
The figure is doubly impressive as it is just under half of the total amount of vans and trucks registered throughout the whole of 2009, the year when the recession started to take hold.
It is believed that as GDP has grown, and consumers start to spend more money on goods and services, firms increasingly become more willing to invest in vehicles to help them meet demand.
Attractive finance deals from manufacturers also making it easier for companies invest in the latest, safest and low emission vehicles.
RAC Business spokesman Simon Peevers said: "It is great news to see such strong figures coming out of the sector.
"This kind of investment in new vehicles is a real sign that confidence is returning and that businesses are expanding their fleets to meet new demand in areas such as online sales.”
