What to Pack in your Car Over the Winter

Being a motorist involves driving in many different types of weather, especially in the UK, where the conditions can change daily. In order to stay safe, you need to be prepared for every eventuality, particularly in the winter months.

According to the the AA, there are are certain items that are must-haves, things to keep in your car in case of emergency as the weather begins to turn and the roads become potentially more dangerous.

Here are some of the key items to keep in the boot:

  • A warm winter coat, scarf, hat, gloves and warm clothes
  • Waterproofs
  • Study footwear
  • A flask for hot drinks
  • A blanket, rug, or sleeping bag
  • A shovel
  • An ice scraper and de-icer
  • A torch with extra batteries
  • A snack pack, including chocolate or cereal bars
  • Extra screenwash so you can top up after excessive cleaning caused by grit on the road

On top of the above, the AA also recommends usual year-round essentials, including a fully charged mobile phone, in-car charger, sunglasses, first aid kit, road atlas and sat nav. Keep all of these in your car to be fully prepared.
