BCA reveal stats on young drivers
The British Car Auctions (BCA) have released data (in the run up to the parliamentary debate on young drivers) which reveals just how people feel about inexperienced motorists.
Statistics show that 35% of people think the minimum age should be raised with 40% thinking it should be at least 21.
A further 42% of people suggested that drivers be retested at regular intervals through their motoring life, with every 10 years rising as the most popular suggestion agreed by 52%.
A member of the BCA was quoted saying, “While a third of motorists expressed concerns about younger drivers, with a belief that road accidents would be reduced if the minimum driving age was raised, our research also showed that over half (58%) of drivers feel that the minimum age is fine as it is.
"Overall, this underlines there is plenty of room for debate on this topic.”
