Flapping Mad!

It’s a well known fact that the two big no-no’s for learner drivers is that:

1. You may not operate a vehicle unless accompanied by another qualified motorist

2. No driving on motorways

And yet when police pulled over a 4x4 on the M62 in West Yorkshire on suspicion of speeding, not only was the woman only holding a provisional liscence, but her only companion was a rather ruffled parrot.

Police later tweeted about the incident with a picture of the bird, “Unfortunately his owner has a provisional licence, and since parrots are not authorised to supervise learner drivers, her vehicle has been seized…’

Chief Inspector Mark Bownass was quoted saying, ‘Learner drivers should not be on the motorway at all and anyone who takes to other roads as a learner must be accompanied by a qualified driver.’
