How much compensation will I receive for an office injury claim?

The amount of compensation rewarded for an office accident claim varies depending on a number of factors, such as severity of injuries, long-term implications and lifestyle adjustments, time off work, and expenses incurred due to injury (such as public transport costs) among others.

Do I get paid if I’m injured at work?

If your company offers an occupational sickness scheme, then you will receive your normal pay during a period of illness, as outlined in your contract. If you are not signed up to an occupational sickness programme, however, then you are still entitled to what is known as Statutory Sick Pay (SSP). With SSP, you will be paid £94.25 per week (before tax) for up to 28 weeks in the event that you are left unable to work for at least four consecutive days.

Is there a time limit to making a claim?

Yes, claims must be made within three years of the accident occurring. If you try to launch proceedings outside of this period, then your claim will be considered time-barred by the courts and will not proceed.

If, however, you sustain an injury that manifests at a later date then you can claim within three years of the symptoms presenting.
